About Islandsfisk.se

Family owned since 1990

Getting good fresh fish is unfortunately one of the exceptions these days. The fish that Icelandfish sells is caught and deep-frozen on a fishing trawler about 3 – 6 hours after the fish has come on deck. This fact plus clean sea – means that the quality of the raw material is always at the highest level!

The Iceland fish is fished within 200 nautical miles of Iceland territory, which is spared from industry – pollution that has unfortunately damaged the Kattegat, the Baltic Sea and large parts of the North Sea. The situation in these areas is catastrophic and alarming according to Swedish and international marine biologists. Many different chemicals and metals have infiltrated the food chain in these areas and should not be there at all or exceed the researchers’ recommendations. You often hear the argument that fresh fish is the best raw material. Yes, of course it is completely correct if the conditions are right. It is the content of the raw material that is essential.

Islandsfisk has been dedicated to serving the individual customer for 34 years – from the year 1990 when we started – and we can state that our service is highly valued and fulfills an important function in satisfying our customers’ fish needs. It is primarily the fish that is our main raw material and which is highly sought after due to its quality.

We drive out and deliver four times a year: September, December, March and June. When an order has arrived via the website or phone, and is confirmed, the relevant letter or email will be sent approximately two days before our arrival detailing the location and time of delivery in the city to which we are driving. We drive to most major towns in the south and between Sweden as well as Denmark, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands and England. See our Delivery locations here

We sell both cod and haddock in 9 and 5 kg packages. The packaging fits exactly into the freezer and because there is a plastic film between each layer in the packaging, it becomes easy and simple to detach the fish fillets from each other. 9 kg sounds like a lot, but it’s not as much as you think. If you eat fish about once a week and are a family of four, the fish will be gone within four months. The fish can actually be preserved in the freezer for a full 9 months without significant reductions in quality. But in everyday life it takes much more than in our example. You have guests or that you simply eat fish more often. If you still think that 9 kg is too much, you can share the package with your relatives or neighbours. Because as I said, it is easy to unload the fish in the package. A large part of our regular customers have been with us from the very beginning, i.e. 25 years back and it’s always fun to meet happy faces and appreciation when we deliver.

Finally, I would like to wish you a warm welcome as a customer and if there is something you are still wondering about, please pick up the phone and call.
